Searching for a bible reading plan can feel exciting or a little daunting. You may be eager to continue with a familiar rhythm or longing for a fresh approach. Either way, the desire is the same: a renewed beginning in God’s Word.

Thoughtfully curated, these Bible reading plans are designed for different readers, with the hope that you’ll find one that suits you best.

This plan takes you through the Bible in one year, following the events as they happened in sequence. It helps you see Scripture as one unfolding story, beautifully connecting passages into one big picture.

I enjoy returning to this plan every few years to refresh my understanding of how the little pieces of the biblical puzzle fit together.

Chad Bird, a scholar-in-residence at 1517.org, walks chapter by chapter through the entire Bible in a year. Each day, he posts a 1–2 minute video that explores a portion of the Scripture reading more deeply. This plan was a true game-changer for me.

As I journeyed through grief in 2025, uncertain whether I had the mental or emotional strength to remain consistent in reading my Bible, this plan was an answered prayer. It was the hand-holding I needed on days when I felt distracted or struggled to make sense of certain passages. Chad’s explanations, shared through his videos and on his X account offered refreshing truths that often met my questioning heart exactly where it was.

If you benefit from having portions of Scripture explained so you can glean more from your reading, this is a wonderful plan to consider.

If your heart longs to begin reading Scripture more consistently, the 21-Day Challenge invites you to start small. Over three slow-paced weeks, you’ll open God’s Word daily and discover how quickly a simple habit can draw you closer to Christ.

I love this plan because it serves both new believers and longtime Christians alike. For the latter, there are many who are yet to start cultivating a steady rhythm of daily Bible reading.

Because life happens!

I can honestly confess that I have often needed to catch up on my daily readings. This plan makes room for that reality. With a five-day-a-week reading schedule, you read Scripture on only five days each week.

The remaining days can be used to catch up, memorize Scripture, rest, or read in preparation for church-based Bible studies. It’s a grace-filled rhythm that allows you to pause, breathe, and continue without falling behind.

This plan brings to mind the determination of a sprinter, doesn’t it? It’s a fast-paced journey through Scripture.

If a full year feels like too long a journey from Genesis to Revelation, a six-month plan offers a quicker, more intensive pace. Each day includes three readings: one from Old Testament history, one from Old Testament poetry or the Prophets, and one from the New Testament.

The plan is also well-suited for readers who hope to journey through the Bible more than once in a year. If that’s you, this is a perfect one for you.

As you press on in this habit of grace throughout the year, I pray that these Bible reading plans remain faithful to their purpose and never replace the work of the Spirit. May they guide you through Scripture, opening your eyes to see Jesus more clearly and drawing you back to Him day after day.
